When I came [to AMH], there was nothing but hate in my eyes, and the previous few months had shown me that anything that could go wrong during this pregnancy would. For me, the most important lesson I’ve learned was FORGIVENESS.  Over time, a long time, I realized you don’t have to forget or act like nothing happened but you have to forgive, let go and let GOD, so all that stress can go away. It feels like a weight is lifted off you, then in the end, you feel so much better and in my case gained an amazing relationship for my unborn son!

That precious creature I held in my arms looked up at me and I knew then I have finally realized what true love felt like. He was so innocent and harmless I knew that little guy would depend on me from that moment forward.  Everything I do will reflect on him and that’s probably the scariest feeling I have ever felt… but I knew that it was time to grow up and take responsibility. I realized by struggling through difficult times you earn strength, by solving hard problems you gain wisdom and being put through dangerous and hard situations you learn courage. I found out I was pregnant when I was 17. My little sister and I were living in a children’s home because my mother had a stroke and became very sick. I was scared and did not know what to do. I found Annunciation, and today feel better knowing that Leilani and I have a place to live and all that we need. AMH has blessed me in so many ways! My high school education was just one of the many blessings. I have been able to attend life skills classes, parenting/adoption classes, as well as cooking and self-esteem classes. All have had a positive effect in my life. Thank you!

It was on Nov 18, 2014 that my life changed forever. This was the day I found out I was pregnant. I was nervous and scared.

After giving birth to a healthy 8lb 15oz baby boy, my whole life changed. My focus was not only on graduating from high school, but also identifying a career that would allow me to support myself and my son. I immediately began moving forward to achieve my goals: graduating from high school. And on January 17, 2017, I began taking courses at Austin Community College.

All of my dreams are coming true because of the AMH program, or should I say the AMH family, provided me the support I needed to accomplish my goals. If it had not been for the loving staff, awesome teachers, and donors, I might not be standing before you today, positioned to making my dreams come true.
